Celebrating a Rich Past
The EDD's roots in California date back to 1915 with the creation of the State Free Employment Bureaus to provide job placement assistance to the unemployed. Over the past 87 years, the Department has grown to more than 10,000 employees in the administration of employer taxes, unemployment insurance, disability insurance, workforce preparation, as well as job placement. The photos illustrate the Department's rich past and active role in the local communities and businesses of our state.
