Are There Programs to Help Youth?
Youth Employment Opportunity Program (YEOP)
Having problems in school? Want to get back in school? Need a job? If you are 15-21 years old, and need help finishing school or finding a job, YEOP Specialists can help you get back on track with your goals.
Intensive Services Program
If you have dropped out of school, you may be eligible for services such as:
- Job referrals and placement assistance
- Labor market information
- Job search workshops
- Fidelity bonding
- Referrals for supportive services
- Referrals for training
Job Seeker Services
Other programs and services are available to assist certain individuals experiencing difficulty finding work. Find out if you qualify.
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Services – If you are 14-21 and meet certain eligibly requirements, you qualify for:
- Tutoring, study skills training, and instruction leading to completion of secondary school
- Alternative school services
- Mentoring
- Paid and unpaid work experience (such as internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing)
- Occupational skills training
- Leadership development
- Supportive services
- Guidance counseling
- Follow-up services

Groundhog Job Shadow Day
Job shadowing gives students the chance to "shadow" a worker on the job and learn how skills acquired in school are applied in the workplace. The EDD encourages its employees to participate in Groundhog Job Shadow Day, a national effort to host students in the workplace.
