Using the Automated Telephone Information
System

This information will help you use our automated telephone system. Before you dial our
toll-free 800 numbers, please take the time to review this information. You will then be
prepared to make the selection you need when calling the EDD.
After a greeting in English and Spanish, you will be asked to:
- Press 1 to hear the recording in English
- Press 2 to hear the recording in Spanish
You must make a valid language selection or you will be disconnected.
After your selection the telephone plays your language and you can reach a
representative who speaks your language.
Special announcements may play before the main menu. If you know the main menu
selection you want, you can press the number and bypass the recording. After you
make a main menu selection, please listen. You may need to make further choices.

Your telephone selections ensure your call is transferred the best location with
the shortest wait.
The main menu options are:
- Press 1 for information regarding your unemployment check.
Unemployment insurance (UI) check information includes the date your last benefit check
was issued, the amount paid, and period of time covering the payment.
The best time to call on weekdays is between 6 am and 8 am or after 5 pm.
You can call at any time on weekends.
To access confidential information using our automated telephone system, you will be
asked to enter your social security number and a personal identification number
(PIN) on your telephone keypad. You will set your PIN the first time you use the
automated telephone system to access confidential information. For more information about

- Press 2 to file a claim, for questions about your existing claim
or for general information about unemployment insurance.
