Workforce Development Community
Information for Employers
What services are available?
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) offers a variety of services to
employers. Services are designed and administered by Local Workforce
Investment Areas (LWIA). Local services are provided by One-Stop
centers and may include:
|
Applicant screening/referral
Business closure assistance
Customized training
Enterprise zone tax credits
Entrepreneurial training
|
Job placement assistance
Labor market information
On-the-job training
Training subsidies
|
Where can I get services?
The WIA is administered by LWIAs in partnership with
local elected officials comprised of representatives from private sector
businesses, organized labor, community-based organizations, local government
agencies, and local education agencies. The LWIAs designate One-Stop
operators, provide policy guidance, and oversee the job training activities
within local areas. The WIA services are provided through the One-Stop
delivery system. One-Stop centers provide a full range of services including
finding qualified employees, labor market information, and obtaining tax
credits for hiring certain workers.
