Information for Employers

What services are available?

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) offers a variety of services to employers. Services are designed and administered by Local Workforce Investment Areas (LWIA). Local services are provided by One-Stop centers and may include:

  • Applicant screening/referral
  • Business closure assistance
  • Customized training
  • Enterprise zone tax credits
  • Entrepreneurial training
  • Job placement assistance
  • Labor market information
  • On-the-job training
  • Training subsidies

  • Where can I get services?

The WIA is administered by LWIAs in partnership with local elected officials comprised of representatives from private sector businesses, organized labor, community-based organizations, local government agencies, and local education agencies. The LWIAs designate One-Stop operators, provide policy guidance, and oversee the job training activities within local areas. The WIA services are provided through the One-Stop delivery system. One-Stop centers provide a full range of services including finding qualified employees, labor market information, and obtaining tax credits for hiring certain workers.

For more information, contact the Workforce Services Division at (916) 654-8008. TTY users, please call the California Relay Service at 711.
